Channel Aware Encryption and Decision Fusion for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract:

Existing system considers distributed detection for binary hypothesis testing in a WSN where sensors are spread over an area to detect a binary target state and transmit their local decisions on the target to an AFC over a wireless PAC. We assume that each sensor individually accesses the AFC over PAC and delivers its local decision via a simple and energy efficient modulation scheme, namely NC-BFSK. Meanwhile, an unauthorized fusion center, i.e., an EFC, passively overhears their communications in the vicinity of the sensors or AFC and attempts to draw its own decision on the target. Under this scenario, we propose a channel aware encryption method employed at the physical layer of sensors to secure communication from eavesdropping under energy and complexity constraints.
